Semi-analytical approach to steady-state torque estimation of synchronous reluctance machines
Book Contribution - Book Chapter Conference Contribution
Subtitle:by harmonics analysis of phase inductances
This research focuses on the development of a semi-analytical approach to the design of synchronous reluctance machines. A closed analytical formula for the steady-state electromagnetic torque of the machine is presented by combining Fourier series expansion of the phase inductances based on the winding function theory with finite element method (FEM) to determine the Fourier coefficients. The presented semi-analytical approach provides a unique insight on the contribution of inductance harmonics on torque ripple. This approach is validated with FEM 2D transient simulations for a salient pole rotor geometry, resulting in less than 5% error on the torque estimate.
