Antigen discovery for the diagnosis of invasive salmonellosis: A targeted proteomics approach

Main objective
To develop the first antigen-based rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs) for the diagnosis of invasive salmonellosis in urine or blood.
Specific objectives
1. To scan the proteomes of the most prevalent Salmonella enterica serovars (Typhi, Paratyphi, Typhimurium, Enteritidis) for proteins with the highest diagnostic potential.
2. To quantify a selected set of target proteins with the highest diagnostic potential in Salmonella cases and controls from the “fever” biobank, using a targeted proteomics approach based on selected reaction monitoring (SRM).
3. To device antigen-based RDTs for diagnosis of invasive salmonellosis in urine and blood.
