Design and analysis of anonymous routing protocols

The main focus of this Ph.D. project is on the application of machine learning methods to the security and privacy analysis of anonymous communications networks, considering networks both based on onion routing and on mixnet techniques. In particular, the research aims to evaluate the inferences that can be made about users’ communications patterns from the metadata leaked by such networks. Based on the obtained evaluation results, this project will propose countermeasures that strengthen user privacy.
