Electrodialysis Process for the Simultaneous Treatment of Reject Brine and Capture of Carbon Dioxide

The electrochemical approach based on electrodialysis is proposed for the simultaneous treatment of reject brine and capture carbon dioxide to produce value-added chemicals, including, inorganic acid and carbonate salts. A multi-chamber electrodialysis unit will be used for the separation of ions from reject brine and dissolved carbon dioxide. The proposed process is an energy-efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally benign method for the fixation of carbon dioxide along with the treatment of reject brine. In addition, the process is flexible enough to integrate with various sectors such as agriculture, oil & gas, chemical manufacturing, and metallurgy to handle the two pollutants in an economical and environmental-friendly way
