System Design and Analysis of Distributed Massive MIMO

Book - Dissertation

The thesis takes a system view on dense massive MIMO systems, namely, a network with closely-spaced users and starts with a thorough measurement- based analysis of both the antenna and channel properties in dense scenarios and how they depend on the antenna location and array topology. The distributed massive MIMO system is realized by splitting one big array into two sub-arrays, and the goal is to investigate the user separability of closely-spaced mobile devices. Channel measurements of co-located and distributed split-arrays are conducted with the KU Leuven massive MIMO testbed operated at 2.6GHz.
