Queens of the phone age: The role of social media influencers in shaping youth’s environmental attitudes and behaviors

The PhD thesis investigates the effects of social media influencers, who often build close bonds with their followers and enjoy high levels of trust and credibility, on adolescents’ and young adults’ environment-related attitudes and behaviors (e.g., climate change, ocean pollution, biodiversity…). The project studies the opportunities (e.g., participation motivation) and risks (e.g., misinformation) of following social media influencers for young people’s attitudes and behavior towards environmental issues.
