Sustainability of different nutritional habits from LCA perspective

The food industry is currently considered as a key environmental burden, caused by the serious environmental impacts of agriculture, food production, food packaging and distribution together with food waste management. Population growth and the need for food in urban systems results in an increasing global stress on the environment. The purpose of this thesis is to evaluate different nutritional habits of selected key world regions and compare their environmental impacts from a life cycle perspective. Output of the thesis is to define key factors influencing environmental impacts of the food chain and propose environmentally friendlier nutritional habits.
