Plug 'n' Play Patch technology for longterm patient monitoring (R-10659)

We aim to develop a novel plug-and-play design methodology to tailor-make wearable medical patches. Wearable devices are essential to improve the treatment precision and personalization for chronic diseases. This requires innovative devices that allow very long-term and comfortable collection of high quality clinical data. Our multidisciplinary consortium aims to combine state-of-the-art technological innovations in medical adhesives, electrode materials, printed and flexible electronics and wearable devices to develop the next generation of medical patches that will pave the way for a new value-based healthcare model. That is, a model in which the long-term health outcomes of the patient are front and focus, supported by longitudinal measures of health and disease. In addition, we have identified three research cases that push the boundaries of what is currently possible with medical wearable devices in the cardiorespiratory, autoimmune and epilepsy fields, all chronic conditions with very high societal impact.
