Flexible Bow-Tie Antenna for WLAN/Wi-Max Applications

Book Contribution - Book Chapter Conference Contribution

This paper presents a bow-tie antenna fabricated on top of a flexible Rogers substrate. The antenna is constructed from two right-angled triangle slots which are excited by coplanar waveguide transmission lines. The length and width of the triangle arms determine the antenna's resonance location and bandwidth. The proposed structure was optimized using HFSS and results of the optimum design were verified using CST. The optimum antenna is matched to 50 Ω from 2.21 GHz until 4 GHz making it suitable for WLAN/Wi-Max applications. The maximum gain of the antenna is 6.88 dBi calculated at 4 GHz.
