Transplantation Research Group

The Laboratory of Abdominal Transplantation performs translational and clinical research in the area of kidney, liver, and intestinal transplantation. It has two main research focusses: (1) the optimization of organ preservation and reduction of ischemia-reperfusion injury, and (2) the promotion of graft acceptance after intestinal transplantation. The laboratory uses models of isolated organ perfusion, transplantation, and ischemia reperfusion infury in rats and pigs and it has several running clinical trials.
