Measurement of the transmitted impulse from hemispherical charges

Book Contribution - Book Chapter Conference Contribution

In the present study the impulse Ib transmitted by a hemispherical contact charge is calculated analytically and compared with experimental measurements. The impulse
is measured experimentally with the use of a ballistic pendulum. The explosive charge is placed on a disk shaped striking mass. The mass is in contact with a non- deformable tubular structure placed on an instrumented base on a ballistic
pendulum. The detonation of the explosive causes the impact of the striking mass on the tubular structure and the swing of the pendulum.
