EFFECTS trial: assessing the influence of timing of Enteral Feeding support in Esophageal Cancer patients on muscle functTION and Survival (EFFECTS)

This study introduces the concept of caloric restriction in the first days after esophageal resection, in contrast to the current concept of as early as possible calorie administration. Our group will investigate whether the negative impact on muscle mass and muscle function can be reduced by the caloric restriction, which should ultimately lead to an improved postoperative recovery.
