Project

The concept of "child vulnerability" in Sub-Saharan Africa. A theoretical study with empirical validation.

This PhD project aims to address both aforementioned limitations by developing an extended multidimensional conceptualisation of child vulnerability. Subsequently, the concept will be measured empirically using confirmatory factor analysis. Recent data from 33 Sub-Saharan African countries will be used to accomplish this measurement model. Factors that affectvulnerability outcomes for children will be determined by developing a structural model. Both models allow to investigate child vulnerability while accounting for its multidimensionality and latent nature. Lastly, the construct will be tested on its stability over time.
