Gamification in the continuous training of bus and car drivers (R-8941)

The bus and coach sector is a sector in which the human component is of great importance. The profession of driver, however, is becoming increasingly complex: today, he needs a diverse pallet of skills. Together with the ever-increasing demands on skills, the sector is aging and it is difficult to attract new drivers. However, drivers are invaluable within the sector. An investment in their knowledge and capabilities is therefore of great importance. Today there are various initiatives regarding this, such as the training institute for bus and car drivers in Belgium (Formation Car and Bus Training). In addition, motivation and commitment from the driver is crucial. A technology that responds to skills and performance and has a motivating effect, is gamification. Gamification, or digitally approaching and motivating individuals based on elements of game design, has already been successfully introduced in sectors such as health and mobility. With this project we aim to apply gamification in the coach and bus sector.
