Genomic aberrations and biological behaviour of tumours in the head and neck region.

Since the Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) plays an important role in the development of Head and Neck cancers, EGFR-directed therapeutics may be important in the treatment of these tumours. For a targeted and cost-effective administration of EGFR-directed therapeutics it is essential to know the prevalence of EGFR- and/or KRAS-mutations and the prognostic and predictive value of these mutations.
