Civil Society Innovation in Flanders (CSI Flanders)

CSI Flanders aims to support and promote innovation in social service delivery and political work in Flemish civil society. It will do so through: (1) the development of a better understanding and mapping of the radically changing environment in which civil society organisations (CSOs) are operating, more specifically with regard to the relationship between CSOs and citizens, between CSOs and governments and the internal organisational dynamics within CSOs; (2) the identification, critical analysis and stakeholder-based assessment of innovative cases of social service delivery and political work and the provision of support to implement case-based insights into practical interventions; (3) the setting up of a dialogue between different types of CSOs, between CSOs and governments and between CSOs and academics aimed at informing public debate on challenges for and innovative practices within Flemish CSOs. At KULeuven-HIVA the reseach focus will be primarily on the management of personnel and organization of CSOs, investigating especially the possible adde-value of high performance work systems and innovative work organisations for the sustainability of CSOs in Flanders.
