Nonperturbative Studies of Superconformal Field Theories.

It has become clear in recent years that there is a deep structure behind superconformal field theories in various dimensions. This has been revealed in part by the use of a number of novel nonperturbative tools which lead to explicit quantitative results in this interesting class of quantum field theories. In the next few years I plan to study superconformal field theories in different space-time dimensions and with different amount of supersymmetry. I will construct novel examples of such theories and employ holography, string theory, and nonperturbative field theory techniques like localization and anomalies to elucidate the properties of these field theories. In the long run this will result in a number of exact results for SCFTs, lead to a possible classification of these theories, and a deeper understanding of the dualities that they enjoy.
