GAIA Early Mission belgian consolidation. Gaia-be(C4000110143).

The Gaia space mission is a cornerstone mission of the European Space Agency aiming to make a 3D map of 1 billion stars. It was launched on December 19, 2013, and will continue for at least 5 years. The space telescope scans the entire sky multiple times to accurately determine positions and distances of all stars up to magnitude 20. In addition, it will collect time series of the brightness of its targets. The Institute of Astronomy is well known for its expertise on asteroseismology, and was granted the responsibility to process and classify all variables star time series using automated and state-of-the-art machine learning methods.
