Sexual dimorphism in insulin signaling
Genetic sex is an important determinant of differences in size, metabolism and longevity between females and males, but the mechanisms that govern these differences are not well understood. In the current project, we use the fruitfly Drosophila melanogaster to (i) unravel how the insulin-signaling pathway regulates metabolic homeostasis in a sex-specific manner and (ii) identify what the essential molecular effectors are that govern this difference.
