Project

Support centre for sustainable material-management in a circular economy. (SuMMa+)

The Policy Research Centre Circular Economy started in January 2017 and will carry out policy research in the theme of circular economy in the next five years, financed by the Flemish administration departments on economics, science & innovation and on environment, nature & energy. The policy research centre will deliver as products an index to monitor the progress towards a circular economy, policy advices on stimulating it and assessments on how new societal trends may affect it.

The centre is composed of eight interdisciplinary and complementary research lines and is a collaboration between KU Leuven, UAntwerpen, UGhent and VITO. In a broader perspective, the centre aims to operate as a hub in policy research in Flanders in the theme of circular economy, framed within international initiatives. In this way the centre aims to have an impact on policy and to build up additional research competences.
