Experimental verification of the electroweak symmetry breaking with the Large Hadron Collider (FWOAL688)

The most fundamental laws of nature are intricately linked with underlying symmetries. At very high energies the level of symmetry in nature is higher, leading to a unification of nature's forces. In our everyday world, the fundamental forces act differently implying a breaking of symmetry. In the Standard Model of particle physics that unifies electromagnetism with the weak nuclear force, electroweak symmetry is postulated to be broken via the Higgs field and its fundamental quantum itself.
