Evaluation of traffic system performance using herogeneous data. (R-8138)

The traffic flow in the big cities of Vietnam (Hanoi, Hochiminh city and so on) with the dominance of motorbikes has many different characteristics from lane-based traffic in the developed world. The goal of this study is to build a set of performance measurement indicators that can be applied to evaluate traffic management measures for Vietnam's big cities. The study will try to utilize available data in the real world to estimate the state of the traffic flow, such as GPS data from taxis, buses, traffic surveillance cameras and so on. These multiple data sources can not only save quite a lot in surveying cost but they also bring rich traffic patterns. Fusing the large volume of data is, however, a challenge due to their different spatial-temporal characteristics.
