The epidemiology of malignant mesothelioma in Belgium.

We intend to provide comprehensive data and state-of-the-art statistical analyses, based on existing national and regional sources of information about the temporal trend in the past incidence of a malignant mesothioma (MM) in order ot make reliable projections regarding the future disease burden; the spatial distribution of MM cases in Belgium in order to detect/confirm the existence of hot spots; the exposure profile of patients with MM in order to determine the specific contributions of occupational , paraoccuppational and environmental exposures to asbestos, with a particular attention devoted to the risk associated with (administrative) work in buildings containing asbestos.
