Study of field emission triodes in the 10 nanometer scale.

Integrated field emission sources are a challenging topic for investigators in science and technology. Such structures are applied in electron sources, flat screens, millimeter wave transcievers and miniaturized ion sources for chemical analysis. The proposed study will concentrate on the fabrication techniques for and study of ultra miniature field emission structures that can work as an active electronic switch, similar to transistors. It is our aim to develop Focused Ion Beam (FIB) based fabrication techniques able to produce such structures in sizes significantly smaller than the state of the art.
