Leuven Space and Society Centre

Leuven Space and Society (LSAS) groups researchers working on the interconnections between society, environment and space. Environment is understood here as "human environment" - the environment produced or transformed by humans, i.e. manipulated nature. Space is the common denominator in our research fields and is understood as multiscalar and multidimensional, including space as structure of social changes, as agency in socio-economical transformations, as active physical spatiality, etc. Society refers to the fact that our research has societal relevance and that this societal relevance is the very object of research.
