The KU Leuven Energy Institute was founded in 1997. Due to existing knowledge in the energy field at the KU Leuven, the Institute is ideally suited for carrying out research on global and multidisciplinary energy issues and problems. Our expertise covers six key areas of energy research: energy technology (electrical and mechanical), energy markets (wholesale), security of supply, energy economics, energy and environmental law.
