Testing device that provides accurate robotic joint motion simulation: Multi Joint simulator (FIBER)

The VIVO Multi-Joint simulator is to the best of our knowledge the only commercially available experimental testing device that provides accuraterobotic joint motion simulation for multiple joints, i.e. knee, hip, shoulder, temporomandibular, elbow, ankle and spinal joint motions. Furthermore, the multi-joint simulator is programmed with customized force and motion profiles that range from standard activities of daily living through extreme sports and simulation of accidental conditions and injurious activities. Thirdly, in line with FIBEr vision to play a key role in the MDR, this testing device directly enables FIBEr to test joints according to the existing ISO and ASTM standards in this field (ISO 14242-1, ISO 14243-1, ISO/CD 14243-3, ISO 14879-1, ISO 16402, ISO 18192-1, ISO/TR 22676, ISO 7206-4, ASTM F1223-08, ASTM F2790-10, ASTM F2694-07, ASTM F2777-10, ASTM F2028-08, and ASTM F1829-98). The Multi Joint simulator has 6 degrees of freedom that can be captured with the included multi-fiber ligament model. Also, the VIVO Multi-Joint simulator offers a unique heuristic constraint model.
