De banksector was het brandpunt tijdens de financiële crisis van 2007-2008. De ervaring van de grote recessie onthulde de zwakke punten van de toen bestaande regelgeving. Dit project is van plan om een aantal unieke gedetailleerde microdatasets te gebruiken om te onderzoeken hoe deze nieuwe bankregulering uiteindelijk de financieringsvoorwaarden van zowel de bankklanten als de reële economie beïnvloedt. De resultaten van dit project helpen bij het verbeteren van het ontwerp van nieuwe bankregulering en macroprudentieel beleid om de omvang van financiële crises te voorkomen of te temperen.
