Multi-Annual Indicative Programmes EU for Sub-Saharan Africa (2014-2021-2027) Universiteit Gent
This dataset is the result of the analysis of all 44 Multi-Annual Indicative Programmes (MIPs) for the period 2021-2027 of the European Union (EU) for Sub-Saharan Africa in which the EU implements its bilateral programmes. In addition, hitherto, 5 of the 29 National Indicative Programmes (NIPs) for the period 2014-2020, which are the of the predecessors of the MIPs, have been analyzed. In the following months, an updated dataset including the remaining 24 NIPs(2014-2020) can be expected. The documents have been examined from a financial perspective, and provide the following information: ...
Data from: Study on the foraging behaviour of the European nightjar Caprimulgus europaeus reveals the need for a change in conservation strategy in Belgium Universiteit Hasselt
Effective nature conservation requires coherent actions based on the best available evidence concerning protected species. Recent studies have suggested that European nightjars Caprimulgus europaeus forage outside their recognized breeding habitats, yet, for Flanders (northern Belgium) information on nightjar foraging behaviour and key foraging habitats is lacking. To assess whether the foraging ecology of nightjars in Flanders is similar to that observed in other parts of Europe, we studied the crepuscular behaviour of this species in Bosland (northeastern Flanders) during a five-year radio ...
AlgaeTraits: a trait database for (European) seaweeds (dataset)
The macroalgae traits project started in 2014 as one of the pilot projects for collecting traits under EMODnet Biology. During this pilot project, Sofie Vranken (UGent) started compiling several traits for European marine algal genera in a database. This was in collaboration with Olivier De Clerck (UGent). In 2017, Sofie and Olivier reaeched out to Marine Robuchon and Line Le Gall of MNHN in Paris, since they had the idea to develop a similar traits database on species level, as the traits might slightly differ between the species in the same genus. The spreadsheets at the genus level and ...
Results of questionnaire on live plant health nematode collections Instituut voor Landbouw-, Visserij- en Voedingsonderzoek

In the framework of the Euphresco project 2016-F-186 'Inventory of living collections of cyst and root knot nematodes in Europe and their maintenance techniques (Cyst and Melo Collect)', a survey was organised during the Autumn 2017 with the aim to collect information on the live nematode collections in different countries. 32 (reference) collections in Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Mexico, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, United Kingdom, and United States of America participated in the survey. Of the 32 mentioned collections the preferred nematode ...
Wheat field earthworms under divergent farming across a European climate gradient Instituut voor Landbouw-, Visserij- en Voedingsonderzoek

Earthworm community metrics data collected during the years 2019 and 2020 from organically and conventionally managed wheat fields (188 fields in total) in nine pedo-climatic zones of Europe, together with associated site information on climate, soil properties and agricultural management of the fields.
Data from: Risk of short-term biodiversity loss under more persistent precipitation regimes Universiteit Antwerpen
Recent findings indicate that atmospheric warming increases the persistence of weather patterns in the mid-latitudes, resulting in sequences of longer dry and wet periods compared to historic averages. The alternation of progressively longer dry and wet extremes could increasingly select for species with a broad environmental tolerance. As a consequence, biodiversity may decline. Here, we explore the relationship between the persistence of summer precipitation regimes and plant diversity by subjecting experimental grassland mesocosms to a gradient of dry-wet alternation frequencies whilst ...

Updated list of QPS-recommended microorganisms for safety risk assessments carried out by EFSA Instituut voor Landbouw-, Visserij- en Voedingsonderzoek
The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) asked the Panel on Biological Hazards (BIOHAZ) to deliver a scientific Opinion on the maintenance of the list of qualified presumption of safety (QPS) biological agents. The QPS approach was developed by the EFSA Scientific Committee to provide a harmonised generic pre-evaluation to support safety risk assessments of biological agents intentionally introduced into the food and feed chain, in support of the concerned scientific Panels and Units in the frame of market authorisations. The taxonomic identity, body of knowledge, the safety concerns in ...

Full edition for scientific use. The EOSC-Pillar ”National Initiatives” Survey is a cross-section study in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, and Italy. The survey aims at landscaping national initiatives of open research data and services with relevance to the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). Four target groups are part of the study: e-infrastructures, research infrastructures, universities and funding bodies. The survey contains questions on the perception of EOSC as well as detailed questions assessing e.g. the e-infrastructures’ business models, technical characteristics, access ...
