Boekbedrijf Universiteit Antwerpen
In de 19de eeuw kwam het Vlaamse boekbedrijf moeizaam van de grond. Pas na de Eerste Wereldoorlog ontstonden in Vlaanderen de bestaansvoorwaarden voor een moderne cultuurindustrie. Tot de Tweede Wereldoorlog was die cultuurindustrie sterk ingebed in de Vlaamse beweging en werd ze bovendien diepgaand beïnvloed door het proces van verzuiling. Na 1945 zou het boekbedrijf deze dubbele ideologische bedding geleidelijk aan verlaten.
Manteau, Angèle Universiteit Antwerpen
Lemma Encyclopedie van de Vlaamse beweging Angèle Manteau (1911-2008) was oprichtster en van 1932 tot 1970 directeur van de naar haar genoemde importboekhandel en uitgeverij, die decennialang over het meest prestigieuze fonds in Nederlandstalig België beschikte en belangrijk was voor de lancering van talenten als Louis Paul Boon en Hugo Claus.

Ernest Kuyper (1881-1962) was een in Nederland geboren journalist, uitgever en drukker. In 1916 richtte hij de Vlaamsche Boekhandel op.
De Sikkel Universiteit Antwerpen
De Sikkel was een uitgeverij die in 1919 werd opgericht door de activistische letterkundige Eugène de Bock. Vanaf 1954 ging de uitgeverij zich hoofdzakelijk toeleggen op schoolboeken en in 2001 werd De Sikkel als imprint overgenomen door de uitgeversgroep De Boeck.
