Physiological responses to ocean acidification and warming synergistically reduce condition of the common cockle Cerastoderma edule Universiteit Gent
Does acidification increase the nitrogen fertilizer replacement value of bio-based fertilizers? Universiteit Gent
Patterns of throughfall deposition, nitrate seepage, and soil acidification in contrasting forest edges Universiteit Gent
Due to forest fragmentation, forest edges as ecotone boundaries between forest and open area such as heathland, pasture, or agricultural land are increasingly dominant features in landscapes around the world. In Flanders, the northern part of Belgium, forests are strongly fragmented: the relative amount of forest edge in the total forested area amounts to almost 60 % when considering an edge depth of only 50 m. Forest edges have a vast influence ...
Acidification and solar drying of manure-based digestate to produce improved fertilizing products Universiteit Gent
The increase in energy and fertilizer consumption makes it necessary to develop sustainable alternatives for agriculture. Anaerobic digestion and digestates appeared to be suitable options. However, untreated digestates still have high water content and can increase greenhouse gas emissions during storage and land application. In this study, manure-derived digestate and solid fraction of digestate after separation were treated with a novel solar ...

Report of the Joint OSPAR/ICES Ocean Acidification Study Group (SGOA) (bijdrage Kris Cooreman), ICES CM 2014/ACOM:33 Instituut voor Landbouw-, Visserij- en Voedingsonderzoek
The Joint OSPAR/ICES Study Group on Ocean Acidification (SGOA) held its third and final meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark from 6–9 October 2014. The meeting was hosted by the ICES Secretariat. The meeting was chaired by Evin McGovern (Ireland) and Mark Benfield (USA) and was attended by 25 scientists representing eleven countries, AMAP and the ICES DataCentre. Seven of the participants joined via WebEx conference.
