Structural and Quantitative Evaluation of Multi-Actor Business Models for Mobile Service Platforms

Boekbijdrage - Boekhoofdstuk Conferentiebijdrage

This paper introduces and characterizes four potential business model constellations for mobile service platforms, each time referring to the ownership and control of three crucial gatekeeper roles. It identifies platform competition and multi-actor mediation and coordination as the crucial competitive concern for mobile service platforms. It goes on to outline and illustrate a quantitative approach to evaluating multi-actor business models, using a prototype decision support system. This quantitative approach is based on the service portfolio theory, i.e. (risk, return) analysis of business actors' positions in collaborative service provisioning, with emphasis on the role of enabler providers.
