Southern revenge? The Austrian Netherlands' transit policy and the Dutch decline in the eighteenth century

The author describes how the transit policy played a significant role in the economic decline of the Dutch Republic in the eighteenth century's second half and how this policy was partly fuelled by a desire of revenge from the inhabitants of the Austrian Netherlands.
