Building Physics

Boek - Boek

This book is intended for students of architecture and civil engineering and focuses on Environmental Acoustics in Architectural design. The focus lies on two main goals. (1) To provide a reasonable reduction of unwanted sounds, noise and vibrations (also called noise control) and (2) to ensure the most favourable conditions for generation, transmission and perception of desirable sounds (mostly speech or music) inside buildings or outdoors. Part I (Introduction to Noise Control and Building Acoustics) focuses on understanding the principles of acoustics as such. It deals with the sound wave propagation, definition of acoustical quantities and provides general calculation methods related to noise measuring and noise evaluation.
