The main objectives of the DISCOBEL research program are: 1. To identify molecular mechanisms and signal transduction pathways that control and regulate cell death and inflammation, and their mutual interrelation. 2. To dissect and validate the molecular interplay between cell death and inflammation in mouse models of inflammatory and infectious, and in cancer models using state-of-the-art transgenic mouse models that are available, will be collected or newly generated within this IAPVII consortium. 3. To translate the fundamental knowledge generated within the consortium to experimental mouse models in order to test its potential therapeutic applicability.
