Grundtvig - Botanic Gardens: new tools for environmental education

The Botanic Gardens Education Network promotes and advances the delivery of education in member organizations. This project was dedicated to support and train a network for professionals working in plant-based education in Europe.
In order to produce vital knowledge for researchers, citizens, museum professionals, and policymakers, this project integrated historical studies with a wider contextual examination of the role of these gardens in society beyond Europe.
The partnership aimed at producing vital knowledge for educators, museum professionals, and citizens. It has been designed to deliver a comprehensive statement on the future role of these gardens in a changing Europe.
The partnership had concrete and measurable objectives and results:
- To train a minimum of 35 professionals to become better guides and facilitators and in doing so to provide a minimum of 200 adult learners with an immediate opportunity to engage in the activities of the gardens.
- To electronically communicate the results in the form of a readily available ‘toolkit’: an online forum for the members; a book about the history and evolution of the member Gardens; a handbook on storytelling and adult didactic methods applied to these Botanic gardens.
