microRNA SIGNATURES FOR CARDIAC DISORDERS

The invention relates to diagnosis of cardiac disorders such as chronic heart failure, a pathophysiological state in which cardiac output is insufficient to meet the needs of the body and lungs and to target specific microRNAs for therapeutic intervention. Because changes in the expression of specific microRNAs are indicative of a transition from cardiac hypertrophy to heart failure, a panel of microRNA biomarkers may be used to predict the likelihood of chronic heart failure and to serve as novel target for therapeutic intervention.
