As a mechanical engineer by education in the course of post-graduate (five years), doctorate studies as well as professional experience, I obtained knowledge and skills in the field of Renewable Sources and in particular to applied research. I hold an MEng in Engineering, during the final year of which I focused on Renewable Energy Sources, Energy Transfer and Production. Currently, I am a PhD researcher at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, a collaborative Researcher at the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics, a collaborative engineer at the R&D department of 3E S.A and an entrepreneur. My professional experience consists of 8 years. I was initially employed by 3E S.A. where I worked as a consultant-engineer both in R&D and Wind Energy department. During my engagement with 3E, I gained a lot of knowledge and expertise by using advanced software, developed my own mathematical models for wind flow simulation and developed a new cost analysis model of offshore wind farms using Monte Carlo simulation and advanced applied statistics. This knowledge transfer was not only beneficial for the risk assessment of big projects such of a wind farm installation but also led the way for future advances and developments of new reliable models to be used daily from consultant engineers. During all these years I had the opportunity to meet professors and individual professionals and entrepreneurs, who inspired me to invest my time in bridging the gap between industry and applied research. I am continuously studying and improving my skills. As part of this development, I published and presented several works on energy-related topics in peer-reviewed journals, a list of which I can provide upon request. I subsequently wanted to test my entrepreneurial skills and for this reason, I decided to co-invest in a two-person business in the HORECA sector. The company is now profitable and has reached break-even after 14 months of operations.
