Koen Peeters

Prof. Koen Peeters is tenure-track-professor en hoofd van de Dienst Medische Antropologie aan het Instituut voor Tropische Geneeskunde in Antwerpen. Daarnaast geeft Peeters ook les aan de Nagasaki University in Japan. Hij behaalde een doctoraat in sociale en culturele antropologie en voerde uitgebreid onderzoek naar de socio-culturele factoren over de overdracht van infectieziekten, de percepties van gemeenschappen van gezondheid en ziektes, en de impact hiervan op preventie-, bestrijdings- en eliminatiestrategieën.
Zijn professionele ervaring wordt gekenmerkt door uitgebreid veldonderzoek in lage-inkomenslanden in West-Afrika, Latijns-Amerika en Zuid-Oost-Azië.
