Angela Tacea

  • Onderzoeksexpertise:

    Angela Tacea is a FWO postdoctoral fellow. She is affiliated with the Institute for European Studies of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel(VUB). She is also an associated researcher at the Center for European studies and comparative politics (CEE), Sciences Po Paris.

    Her postdoctoral project, ‘Who wins the legislative battle? Tracing legislative change and policy ideas in the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice’, conducted in partnership with the VUB’s Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, aims to understand the balance of powers between the main European institutional actors in context of legislative decision-making in the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice (AFSJ). 

    Her research and teaching interests are broadly in European decision-making process and constitutional law, with special focus on institutional actors and procedure, fundamental rights and justice and home affairs policies, e-government, civic techs and artificial intelligence. 

    Before joining the VUB, she has been a temporary Lecturer in public law and political science at Université Paris 2 Panthéon- Assas. Angela completed her PhD at Sciences Po Paris in 2017 under the supervision of Prof. Renaud Dehousse. Her dissertation, “Des gouvernements sous le regard de leur parlement: la participation des parlements français, italien et britannique à l'élaboration et au contrôle des politiques européennes de justice et de sécurité intérieure”, explains how national parliaments contribute to the decision-making process and the defense of human rights and civil liberties in the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice.
