Resultaten:Summary of the context and overall objectives of the project (For the final period, include the conclusions of the action) Working in this changed maritime field requires a flexible attitude. A lot of work processes have not yet been fully thought out or implemented. It is also expected that the seafarer of the future will have a lot of contact with suppliers who bring innovations on board, but also ashore. Direct contact with suppliers requires an entrepreneurial mindset from seafarers. A changing professional field goes hand in hand with a change in education. To be able to respond as effectively as possible to the innovations it is important that seafarers learn the right skills. The TEAMS project aims to equip students with entrepreneurial skills and design thinking in projects. Real-life cases from the maritime professional field is the main teaching tool to be used in the Teams project. Three European maritime schools participate in the project; the Hogere Zeevaartschool in Antwerp, Munster Technological Institute in Cork, and STC Group in Rotterdam. JAMK University of Applied Sciences in Jyväskylä is affiliated with the project because the Tiimiakatemia method they have developed offers a practical approach to coach students in entrepreneurial skills and design thinking. Finally, the branch organization Netherlands Maritime Technology and start-up accelerator PortXL joined the TEAMS project because they have good connections with the maritime industry. Their role is to provide maritime students with real cases from the professional field. Objective 1: One practice-oriented and sector-specific research, conducted in Belgium, Ireland and The Netherlands by participating maritime educational institutions, will result in a gap analysis between the specific required soft skills by leading maritime-related companies and the way national maritime education institutions provide the development of these soft skills in their curricula. A more specific and updated needs assessment is required to make the right comparison with current curricula and forms the necessary baseline for the development of the TEAMS Blueprint. It will be conducted in the during the first 3 months of the project. Part of it will be achieved by executing a symposium /conference with partners and invited businesses. From this symposium a gap analysis will be performed identifying entrepreneurial competencies in the maritime context. This will include but not be limited to 21st Century skills, Life-long learning skills, Resilience, etc. Objective 2: The utilizing of the Team Academy method of educational/training in teaching entrepreneurship. One programme (TEAMS Blueprint) is developed consisting of 4 foundation modules, supplemented with extra modules as determined and defined in the symposium. This is done in month 3 to month 6 of the project and will be tailor made to the needs of the maritime context. This objective addresses the need for a design, fostering 21st century and entrepreneurial skills in maritime education. Objective 3: The training 10 instructors/lecturers/professionals to become TEAMS coaches and subsequently the training of 60 students to become Teampreneurs according to the TEAMS Blueprint developed. Objective 4: Disseminate and promote the TEAMS concept by developing a sustainable innovation platform with active involvement of the maritime industry (providing real-life cases, mostly on sustainability, assessing innovative proposals by Teampreneurs) and education (delivering Teampreneurs and Team Coaches). Within the timeframe of this project the platform hosts 3 innovation contests, creates one TEAMS web portal, produces 1 white paper discussing the need to for change regarding 21st century and entrepreneurial skills in maritime education and finally 1 Ref. Ares(2021)4249040 - 30/06/2021 develops one TEAMS toolbox with course and assessment material, aspiring the TEAMS approach to be adopted by other European maritime educational institutions. Work performed from the beginning of the project to the end of the period covered by the report and main results achieved so far (For the final period please include an overview of the results and their exploitation and dissemination) Objective 1: In the first three months of the TEAMS project, HZS (leader work package 2) drew up a gap analysis with input from the maritime education institutes. The gap analysis provided insight into which soft skills are still missing in the curricula of the three participating maritime education institutes. In the research that led to the Gap analysis, the soft skills from the method of Tiimiakatemia (part of JAMK) were used. The research results have formed the necessary baseline for the development of the TEAMS Blueprint. The Gap-Analysis is shared on the TEAMS portal and will be actively shared at symposia and events later in the project. Objective 2: JAMK worked from month 3 to month 12 on the creation of the TEAMS Blueprint. The Blueprint describes the method for training Maritime teachers to become TEAMS coaches. The Blueprint consists of 5 modules in which a lot of emphasis is placed on Entrepreneurship and design thinking. The results of the Gap-Analysis have also been incorporated into the TEAMS Blueprint. The Blueprint has been shared on the TEAMS web portal, so that other interested parties can also use this method. Objective 3: In month 4 of the project, the first coaching session took place in Finland to train the TEAMS coaches. This three-day coaching session was the start of 4 other sessions that would take place at different locations of the partners. Unfortunately, the Covid pandemic threw a spanner in the works and the other coaching sessions had to take place virtually. The online coaching sessions took place in Zoom from January 2021 to May 2021. During those six months, an online coaching session took place every two weeks. The frequency of the online coaching session has been increased to give all coaches the opportunity to join. Within the limitations that applied, JAMK has put in place a solid program in which there was a lot of room for personal input from daily work practice. Objective 4: Due to the delay in other workpackages as a result of COVID-measurements and travel restrictions, the actual work on the provision of case studies and innovation contests has mostly still to start. Nonetheless, some significant decisions regarding the design / framework of the real-life cases as well as the contests have been made along the way. The project supporting webportal has been created which includes or will include news, events, project information, partner information, student testimonials, real-life cases, the contests and public deliverables. Progress beyond the state of the art, expected results until the end of the project and potential impacts (including the socio-economic impact and the wider societal implications of the project so far) In the next phase of the project, the TEAMS coaches will put into practice what they have learned and the project will be showcased more. The TEAMS coaches will supervise project groups with students who come up with solutions for real life cases. The students conclude their project with a contest. 2 All the findings from the TEAMS project and supporting findings from recent research will be incorporated into a white paper, which will be presented to the IMO. With this white paper we want to ensure that the IMO sees the importance of Entrepreneurship and Softskills in the Maritime curriculum (with the ultimate goal of including Entrepreneurship and soft skills in the STCW). Finally, ambassadors of the TEAMS project will share their good experiences at symposia and events to bring the importance of Entrepreneurship and soft skills within the Maritime profession to the attention of other Maritime educational institutes. The TEAMS project believes that Entrepreneurship and soft skills are necessary for a future seafarer to work in a world of ever increasing innovation and digitization.
