To study the effects of safety learning in anxiety, I will develop and validate a novel paradigm, to assess individual differences in safety learning and to see if we can promote approach behavior in anxious individuals. Once validated, this experimental work will be translated to ultra-high field functional magnetic resonance imaging experiments that will characterize the underlying neural mechanisms involved in the task. This work will be carried out at the University of Melbourne, Australia.
