'Stuck in the Middle with You': Psychoanaliterature in tijden van covid

Tijdschriftbijdrage - Tijdschriftartikel

Stuck in the middle with you: ‹psychoanaliterature› in times of COVID This article explores a prominent and exciting trend in the intermediary area between literature, psychoanalysis and theory, i.e. autotheory or the interweaving of personal narratives with theoretical concepts. It does so by narrating the account of a collaborative online course that the author taught with Yael Segalovitz from Ben-Gurion University in Israel during the pandemic. A dialogue between students from different backgrounds about psychoanalysis was set up, focusing on contemporary texts that explore the relevance of psychoanalysis in culture, and participants took part in an experiment with autotheory, being invited to join the dialogue through podcasts. It was concluded that a fresh look at psychoanalysis, in the contemporary global crisis, reveals its continued importance, along with literature, as a profound exploration of dialogue, interrelationality and creativity.
