The value of imaging and endoscopic scoring for the prediction of outcomes in inflammatory bowel disease: Towards objective and predictive outcome measures.

Boek - Dissertatie

The general aim of the doctoral project is to provide an integrated monitoring strategy for IBD patients based on the different endoscopic and transmural imaging modalities. This monitoring strategy is crucial for an optimal use of the current treatment options. It should provide a better guidance to physicians how to manage different IBD disease phenotypes. Optimal use of the different modalities in a treat-to-target concept will not only improve short term disease outcome but also long term prognosis by preventing long term complications. We therefore formulated the following specific aims: Clarifying the role of CT and MR imaging in the prognosis of stricturing and penetrating CD. (WP 1) Providing insights in the mechanisms of transmural healing by functional MRI in IBD. (WP 2) Defining and validating endoscopic remission in CD. (WP 3)
