Pathophysiology of cerebrovascular autoregulation in view of clinical autoregulation monitoring.

Boek - Dissertatie

Cerebrovascular pressure autoregulation is often disturbed following traumatic brain injury, and this impairment may vary in extent, range and time. There is evidence that monitoring of autoregulation can help in steering blood pressure management and that such efforts lead to improved outcome. However, knowledge on confounding factors is lacking, and this substantially threatens outcomes of prospective clinical research. The aim of the current project is to map the influence on dynamic cerebrovascular pressure autoregulation of suspected demographic, genetic, pharmacological, pathophysiological and assist-related factors."
