La végétation naturelle d’Élisabethville (actuellement Lubumbashi) au début et au milieu du XXième siècle

After having introduce the pertinence of the information shortage.available regarding the time of the creation of the town of Elisabethville, a first theme is reviewed. It consists to define some terms, as well in French than in English, They concern the vegetation units of the region and diverse sub-types. Quoting the word « miombo » induces to take into consideration more than fourty papers using this word in their title and more than hundred books and papers concerning this vegetation. Next, a whole of work are reviewed. First, two anonymous works which contain a beautiful collection of eloquent pictures, of which 14 concerning our theme, are presented and the pictures are commented. Then complementary arguments are quoted ; they confirm the first deductions. Finally personal observations carried out from 1966 to 1969 are reported, analyzed and discussed. Several photos illustrate our study.
