Integrating genetic, environmental and developmental variation to study gene regulatory mechanisms
Boek - Dissertatie
Despite an intrinsically noisy transcriptional environment, developmental gene regulatory programs give rise to highly robust and reproducible phenotypes. Gaining a better understanding of factors that confer such robustness within transcriptional networks is important and may help decipher the impact of mutations in the non-coding genome. The aim of my project is to systematically test the contribution of different factors to the variability and robustness of gene expression across individuals. The analysis will be mainly performed on the whole-embryo gene expression data for multiple isogenic Drosophila lines during a developmental time. My goal is to generate models with testable predictions that we will validate on independent datasets.
