Between 1635 and 1638 the Antwerp playwright Frederico Cornelio De Conincq wrote plays inspired by the Spanish comedia. His play Liefdens Behendicheyt (1638) expresses fundamental criticism against Spanish culture. De Conincq ridicules and parodies the Spanish comedia, the Spanish aristocracy and the entire Spanish culture, in an environment controlled by the Spanish.
