The specifics of translating social and political lexicon

Translation plays a big role in a society; it helps us to be acquainted with history, culture, the literature, scientific achievements, social and political life in other countries. Because language reflects the existing reality, the translator should not only know well the language from which hetranslates but also the language in which he translates; he needs to have a huge amount of background knowledge. There exist various strategies to translate terms connected with the realities. The translator of realia needs individual and careful approach to each separate case. Social and political terms represent a very interesting layer of lexicon from the point of view of thetranslation. It is impossible to apply blindly certain political concepts of one country to the description of political culture of other country.
