Advances in Ultrahigh-Pressure Liquid Chromatography Technology and System Design

Tijdschriftbijdrage - Tijdschriftartikel

One decade has passed since the introduction of commercial ultra-high-pressure liquid chromatography (UHPLC) technology and columns packed with sub-2-µm particles, which led to significant improvements in separation efficiency and sample throughput. This review discusses fundamental and practical aspects of ultra-high-pressure liquid chromatography. Advances in system design addressing tubing configuration, pump and injector technology, oven configuration, and detection including MS interfacing are reviewed. In this context, practical aspects of method development are discussed and key UHPLC applications are highlighted.
